The Gadget Show Live 2011, a five-day consumer electronics extravaganza, has grown by another third this year. With an extra hall to showcase more of the latest gadgets, 25 per cent more floor space, an additional opening day, capacity for 15,000 more visitors, extra Super Theatre seats and more interactive on-site features, this year’s event will be the biggest so far.

Taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from 13 to 17 April 2011, The Gadget Show Live is widely recognised as the best place to see, try and buy the latest consumer technology - to book tickets go to www.gadgetshowlive.net.  

Based on the highly popular Channel Five TV show, The Gadget Show Live is open to the public between 13 and 17 April 2011. In addition to stands from the world’s leading electronics firms, such as Sony, JVC and LG, visitors can also participate in many features such as the new Hub Theatre, the dedicated Game Zone, a Future Technology Area and interactive Test Track. There will also be a one hour long, high energy, live theatre version of the TV show which will take place in the newly designed Super Theatre three times a day, with each show seating 4,500 people.

Last year’s event, Gadget Show Live 2010, saw nearly 70,000 people come through its doors. This year, having already sold more than half the tickets, organisers anticipate another sell out event and around 85,000 visitors.

Matt Hodgins, Head of Event at Upper Street Events said: “With tickets selling faster than ever – we’ve already sold more than 44,000 since the box office opened only one month ago - we’re anticipating another sell-out. So it’s advisable to buy your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. It appears the Gadget Show Live remains the UK’s premier destination to immerse yourself in the latest tech.

“We’re really excited about how the event has evolved for 2011 – it promises to be a fun, fully interactive and hugely entertaining gadget-focused day out for everyone,” added Matt.

In addition to a Home Gadgets dedicated Zone and the new Active Zone, other new and improved features at The Gadget Show Live 2011 include:

·       NEW Hub Theatre in the middle of the exhibition floor where visionaries will talk about the latest tech, their predictions for future trends, and provide advice on how to get the most out of your personal gadgets

·       EXTENDED Future Technology area will demonstrate new inventions and the latest academic thinking on how new technology will impact our lives in the future, from robotics to augmented reality

·       EXTENDED Game Zone dedicated to showcasing the very best in computer games and consoles, in which visitors can have a go with the family or try taking on the world pros

·       NEW Test Track Arena covering 1000 square metres will offer visitors the chance to have a go on the latest and quirkiest personal transportation devices

·       NEW 3D Theatre will demonstrate how this growing technology is creating even more immersive viewing experiences

·       BIGGER Photographic Workshop will provide visitors with top tips on taking better photographs and how best to use the latest digital camera equipment

The Gadget Show Live 2011 is created by North One Television, Five and Upper Street Events and has capacity for 85,000 visitors. With more than half of tickets already sold in the first month and with the event selling out months in advance for the past two years, it’s advisable to book tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Companies showcasing their latest products this year include all of the biggest brands from the 2010 show, in addition to brands such as Acer, JVC, HMV and Medion who are joining the show for the first time in 2011.

Based on Five’s primetime technology programme, The Gadget Show Live is aimed at an audience of families, men and women who are keen to see, try and buy the latest must have technology. The 2010 event attracted a record 66,114 attendees and 223 exhibitors, and the launch event in 2009 had 30,646 visitors and 154 exhibitors who promoted the latest in computing, photography mobile communications, gaming, home entertainment and in-car technology. The Gadget Show Live 2011 is open to the public from 13 to 17 April 2011 at the NEC Birmingham, with a dedicated trade and press day on 12 April.

Gadget Show Live 2011 entrance ticket prices follow (all tickets will also incur an additional 95p booking fee):

Adults - £14.95

Children aged 5 to 12 years - £6.95

Children under 5 – FREE (plus 95p booking fee)

Event entrance including standard theatre ticket seat (all tickets will also incur an additional 95p booking fee):

Adults - £23.90

Children aged 5 to 12 years - £15.90

Children under 5* – FREE

*Under 5s are welcome to join their parents at the Live Shows in the Super Theatre, however it is advised that as the Live Show will contain loud noises and pyrotechnics it may not be suitable for smaller children. Smaller children are welcome to share their parents’ seat at no extra charge, however those wanting to purchase an individual seat can purchase a Child Ticket for £8.95.

Tickets are unlikely be available to purchase on the door.

Opening hours are 9:00am to 6:00pm each day.

The Super Theatre live performances will take place daily at 10:30am, 1:30pm and 4.15pm.
