The UK’s largest consumer electronics event just got bigger - The Gadget Show Live 2010 at Birmingham’s NEC from 8 to 11 April 2010 has almost doubled in size since its inaugural sell-out show earlier in 2009. Based on the popular Channel Five television programme, The Gadget Show Live 2010 is open an additional day and has almost twice the floor-space to accommodate more exhibitors and many new features. It promises to be a spectacular and entertaining experience for anyone interested in seeing, trying and buying the latest high tech gadgets.

Jason Bradbury’s must-have gadgets for 2010 are:

“Above all, the Project Natal for Xbox 360, the OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TV from Samsung - inexpensive with great web TV option – and the much anticipated Apple Tablet.”

Suzi Perry’s must-have gadgets for 2010 are:

“3D TV will become a consumer possibility, Apple will bring out something gorgeous along the lines of a tablet and everyone will lust after it and the gaming world will continue their quest with more gesture based input, Natal from Microsoft and Sony also following Nintendo's idea of physical gaming. 4G phones will enable high download speeds, or at least that is what has been promised and the green revolution will continue and be taken more seriously. I think the must have gadget though will continue to be the iPhone.”

Ortis Deley’s must-have gadgets for 2010 are:

“The must-have gadget for 2010, I think, will be the Project Natal add-on peripheral for console free, gestural gaming. My favourite gadget of 2009 has been my Sony 32G X-series Walkman. Finally, a touchscreen MP3 player with great extras that gives the iPod Touch a run for its money.”

Jon Bentley's must-have gadgets of the year are:

“...still really the must have gadget of 2009 that didn’t happen - full-size OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TVs. Brilliant colours, super-thin, I hope we’ll see some nice big ones in 2010. Of course, if Apple finally launch their long-awaited Tablet and revolutionise the e-reading and newspaper/periodical market in the process that’s likely to be the biggest news.

It’ll have all the features that e-readers currently lack - including full interactivity and a colour screen. But there’s also just an outside chance a company like Acer or Asus manage to do something nearly as good a lot cheaper. “

The Gadget Show Live 2010, from North One Television, Five and Upper Street Events

has capacity for more than 50,000 visitors (2009’s inaugural Live event sold all 30,000 tickets three weeks in advance) with more than 200 exhibitors showing their latest products. Participants this year include Canon, Panasonic, Packard Bell, Nikon, Olympus, Black & Decker, LG, Dyson, Olympus, PC World, and Segway.

Many of the favourite areas from 2009 have been expanded plus new features will launch in 2010 to keep visitors enthralled, these include:

· New – The Future Tech Zone means visitors can meet the developers behind emerging technologies likely to impact our future lives. Key universities and the technology institutes will present their latest work, providing a glimpse into technologies of the future - from robotics and augmented reality to Brain Computer Interfaces.

· New – The Outdoor Zone will show the best outdoor gadgetry for campers, hikers, festival goers and outdoors extreme sports enthusiasts.

· New – Gadget Show Build Museum will showcase some of the best builds from the TV show, including go-carts powered by chainsaw engines, the home made roller coaster chair and three incarnations of the Gadget Show hoverboard.

· New – Photographic Workshop Theatre will offer practical advice and support from the UK’s leading manufacturers, with regular presentations for up to 150 visitors.

Favourites from 2009 making a return include an expanded Super Theatre which will accommodate up to 4,000 visitors three times a day. Presenters from the TV show, Jason Bradbury, Suzi Perry, Jon Bentley and Ortis Deley will offer a taste of the TV show live on stage with challenges, audience competitions and some very special guests.

The Game Zone doubles in size to provide a Mecca for everyone interested in gaming, from casual console players to hardcore online competitors, with the opportunity to watch the leading international teams battle it out in front of you! The Test Track also returns in a larger space to accommodate the huge demand experienced at this year’s show - you’ll get the chance to try out Segways and EasyGliders and lots of other great transportation devices. The Gadget Hall of Fame (your favourite gadgets and memorable techie icons) and Future Home also return bigger and better for 2010.

We’ve already sold more than 31,000 tickets since the box office last month, so we strongly advise people to book early. There was an incredible £385 spent on average per head in 2009 so we expect a lot of electronics shopping to happen in 2010!”
