The Future Is Coming On
Gorillaz Go Mobile with a Hot New Game Title from RealNetworks
SEATTLE, WASH., HELSINKI, FINLAND and LONDON, U.K. - February 22, 2006 - In 2000, Gorillaz hit the scene as the world's first cartoon band. Today, the Grammy-winning group announced another first, the debut of Gorillaz Entertainment System. The game is a new exclusive arcade title from RealNetworks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK) and will be available on phones in April 2006.
Capturing the irreverent nature and irresistible charm of the platinum band, the new title features four easy-to-grasp, mini-games based on each of Gorillaz' band members; 2D, Noodle, Murdoc and Russel. The graphic elements are a unique blend of retro 'arcade style' games and the utterly contemporary Gorillaz artwork. Gorillaz Entertainment System was created in conjunction with Jamie Hewlett and his studio design team at Zombie Flesh Eaters in West London.
"Being selected to create a game for the cult-favorite, Gorillaz, is a huge win for us," said Juha Ruskola, General Manager, Mobile Games EMEA, RealNetworks, Inc. "The adventurous title created by Mr.Goodliving and Zombie Flesh Eaters captures the unique, spirited personality of the band and we're looking forward to bringing Gorillaz' greatness to both new and existing fans through our many distribution channels."
Gorillaz Entertainment System will be available from April 2006 onwards. Offering one of the largest global distribution networks and first-class handset support, RealNetworks is recognized as a leading provider of quality mobile and online game services.
