The alternative Game BAFTAs are BACK!
Way of the Rodent's antidote to the false pomp and made-up ceremony of the 'big one' returns to the tiny downstairs function room of a London boozer on the 31st of January and you're all invited - awards will be won, reputations will be ruined, again, and heroes will say stuff they're glad won't be noticed.
The Rodent Game Awards: Not bigger and better - still small, still rubbish.
Oh! It's the Original Spirit of Videogaming!
On THURSDAY the 31st of January, The Royal George in that-there-London will once again play host to the Rodent Game Awards - in a cosy beer-stained function room we shall be awarding the generally overlooked 'Rodents'. Forget your BAFTAs - this is proper videogaming spirit: having a laugh and loving the best of gaming in 2007.
Although the venue is small and the event ridiculously low-key: we'd like to make an open invitation once again to any of you lot who fancy coming down and picking up your awards or to drink away your disappointments. Games-makers, code-under-the-fingernails heroes especially welcome but if you enjoy videogames and prefer to play than to pretend then book your free tickets here: http://rodent.eventwax.com/rodent-game-awards-night-2008 (hurry - limited availability).
Oh and if any of you nice PR or Marketing types fancy aligning yourself with one of the last independent and free-spirited voices in games media please talk to us about sponsorship, especially of the bar.
Last year we dressed Capcom in the gay cowboy outfits from Dead Rising, praised Criterion's knobs, read out loads of apologies and drank much Belle Vue Kriek. Oh and we'd like to extend, once again, a very warm welcome to our special guest - Rodrigo Hensley of Sony Computer Entertainment Belize, he's a card and no mistake.
www.WayoftheRodent.com - you lucky people!
