TGC/Ghostlight deal
Wii titles Mary King's Riding School 2 and International Athletics both Germany-bound.
Berlin/Cologne, August 21st, 2009. In the course of the gamescom 2009, TGC – The Games Company announces a newly concluded licensing deal: TGC acquires the publication rights for two Nintendo Wii™ sports games for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland from the publisher Ghostlight Ltd., which belongs to the Majesty House group. Release of both products is scheduled for this year.
In Mary King’s Riding School 2, the whole family saddles their horses and takes up the reins on the Wii™. As an ambitious equestrian, you compete with the international elite in disciplines such as show jumping, cross-country run, or dressage riding. The player is instructed by legendary equestrian and Olympic champion Mary King, learning horseback riding from the bottom up. This simulation, which excels in its realism, is staged with impressive optics by the Gamebryo engine.
It’s all about sports in International Athletics, too: Here, the sporty go for medals and world records in 14 popular athletic disciplines on the Wii™. Only those who really put their back into it in front of their home TV will victoriously pass the finishing line and can then prove themselves in an ultimate decathlon.
Christian Sauerteig, TGC’s Director of Marketing and Sales, sees an enrichment of TGC’s portfolio in both titles: “I am very pleased that with Ghostlight, we have found a partner with such a varied line-up. Mary King’s Riding School 2 is the first sophisticated simulation of equestrianism for the Wii which will allow us to get an even broader group of customers excited about the popular topic of horse riding. Furthermore, International Athletics is really inspiring, thanks to its enormous scope and intuitive controls.”
“I am delighted to be working with The Games Company in Germany, Austria and Switzerland”, says Sam Collins, Head of Sales at Ghostlight. “Their pro-active and positive approach to publishing and distribution as well as their commitment to a high quality of service is an excellent fit for Ghostlight and our product portfolio.”
