Telcogames Secures Licensing Deal With Jaleco
Smartphone versions of Ninja Jajamaru Kun and Rod-Land launching soon
London (UK) & Tokyo (Japan) 10 March 2006. Mobile games publisher and distributor, Telcogames has acquired exclusive rights from Jaleco (JASDAQ 7954), the Japanese arcade and console games publishing house, to publish Jaleco's 1990's Ninja Jajamaru Kun and Rod-Land console blockbusters for Smartphone platforms.
According to the deal, Telcogames's in-house Smartphone specialist, Magic Productions, will develop both games launching Ninja Jajamaru-Kun in Europe and Rod-Land worldwide. Rod-Land and Ninja Jajamaru Kun will be developed for Symbian, Windows Mobile, Brew and J2ME platforms.
Rod-Land was originally launched as an Arcade game in 1990 (Japan). It became so successful with the coin-ops that Jaleco ported it to the Nintendo Family Computer (Famicom). The Nintendo Family Computer version sold over 150000 units in Japan, 200000 units in the US and 150000 in Europe. The Nintendo Game Boy version sold 100000 units in Japan. On Amiga, Atari ST and Commodore 64 platforms combined over 200000 units were sold in Europe alone. The Telcogames version will be an exact replica of the original Rod-Land experience.
Jamie Conyngham, CEO and Co-Founder of Telcogames said:
"We are excited to have been granted these licences from Jaleco Ltd, Japan, whose outstanding console games portfolio includes many worldwide blockbusters. The demographics for classic console gamers match the demographics for Smartphone users - they tend to be a little older. For carriers, who are seeking premium mobile gaming content, Ninja Jajamaru Kun and Rod-Land are a perfect fit to their best of breed content offering. We expect that their customers will enjoy the mobile version of these much loved classics, as the power of sophisticated Smartphones has created a completely new benchmark in mobile gaming."
