Swordfish Studios is expanding by opening a new studio in Manchester to compliment its existing Birmingham outfit, as well as looking to recruit over 50 staff for next-gen projects.

The developer of Cold Winter is hoping to take advantage of talent pools in the North West, with the new studio a commitment from Vivendi to invest in UK development teams.

"We know from experience that there is a wealth of talent around the M62 corridor in the North West of England," commented MD Trevor Williams.

"Our next generation projects require us to build on and expand our existing talent base, so we are looking for people with the right strengths, skills and talent."

"Next-gen hardware requires more hands on deck and as we go forward our objective is to welcome 50 plus more members to the Swordfish teams in a variety of roles and seniority," he added.

VU Games snapped up Swordfish back in May last year while on an acquisitions drive, and has since kept the studio's next-generation projects under wraps.
