Switch will get streaming media "in time"

Nintendo of America president says company in talks with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, launch focus was on system as a gaming device

Games weren't the only things scarce at the Nintendo Switch launch. The system's suite of online options was similarly spartan, particularly when it came to the streaming media services that have been standard on consoles for a couple generations now.

While there's no Netflix for Switch users just yet, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told the Washington Post that the popular streaming service and many of its ilk are in the company's future plans.

"We built the Nintendo Switch to be a world-class gaming device, meaning we want you first and foremost to play games on the system and have an incredibly fun experience," Fils-Aime told the paper. "We're talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon - things that will come in time. In our view, these are not differentiators. What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform."
