Sugar Rush
MMO brawler begins open beta.
LOS ANGELES – November 20, 2008 – Nexon America Inc. ( http://www.nexon.net), a world leader in massively multiplayer online (MMO) games, today announced it has partnered with IGN’s popular game download site FilePlanet ( http://www.fileplanet.com) to launch the latest closed beta test for Sugar Rush, a new online multiplayer fighting game from Nexon’s North American development studio. The closed beta test begins November 20 and concludes December 4. A limited number of keys to access the Sugar Rush closed beta are available through FilePlanet on a first-come basis.
Users can sign-up and download the game for free at FilePlanet beginning on November 20. Players must hold a valid FilePlanet account and obtain a Sugar Rush activation code from http://www.fileplanet.com. Players must download the game from the site then visit http://sugarrush.nexon.net to activate their Nexon account with the FilePlanet code. Testers must also have a valid Nexon Passport to access the beta. Passports are available at http://www.nexon.net, where users can sign up for free.
Sugar Rush unites combatants in the City of Bashew, an extraordinary world where a school girl carrying a baseball bat is as dangerous as a hulking tough guy swinging a giant salmon. Players battle in various combat arenas to collect “spark,” a vital source of energy, to win trophies and improve their rank in the game. Players can choose from three character classes - brawlers, ninjas or morphs - and customize each class with different weapons, clothes and physical features.
Scheduled to debut in early 2009, Sugar Rush is the first title by Nexon Publishing North America and is created specifically for a North American audience. It was developed by Klei Entertainment, an independent company working in-house with Nexon that is known for building high-quality innovative online games.
“Sugar Rush is a landmark game for both Nexon America and the American gamer,” said Min Kim, vice president of marketing of Nexon America. “Sugar Rush is the first North America developed game launched by Nexon and represents our first attempt to join the item selling business model with Western sensibilities. Sugar Rush will have mass appeal for both casual and hardcore gamers alike.”
