Star Trek Fleet Command surpasses $100m in lifetime revenue
Mobile game is publisher Scopely's fastest-growing mobile title
Following a massive year for mobile games company Scopely including surpassing $1 billion in lifetime revenues, a new 60,000 sf LA headquarters come 2020, the acquisition of Dublin-based DIGIT Games Studios, two new game launches and a growing long-term portfolio, Scopely's first MMO/strategy game Star Trek Fleet Command™ has become the company's fastest-growing title, attracting over $100 million in lifetime revenue in less than eight months.
Star Trek™️ Fleet Command launched globally on iOS and Android in November 2018. Since then, the game has seen highly engaged audiences around the globe with 85% of players playing 5 out of 7 days every week with over 4.7 million days played in the game. Over 100 million battles were played in just its first 10 days last year, with now over 1.5 billion lifetime battles deployed. The game is Scopely's fastest title yet to achieve the $100 million lifetime revenue milestone and also saw the highest average revenue per install of any mobile game launched in the west in its first six months.
"Our goal with Star Trek™️ Fleet Command is to provide a game experience that players love, stay true to the Star Trek franchise, and offer the most aesthetically, narratively and mechanically immersive experience possible," said Steve Huff, VP of Product & GM at Scopely. "With over 195 million missions completed, 115 million hours played, and 1.2 billion alliance helps given, we are thrilled by the response the game has received around the world."
Scopely Co-CEO Javier Ferreira added, "Our team spends years building our games, so it's hugely rewarding to have one of our products achieve the $100 million revenue milestone so quickly after launch. We take pride in seeing players consistently and passionately engage with our entire portfolio of games. At Scopely, we are dedicated to delivering highly-personalized experiences people can enjoy today and for years to come."
In May 2019, following the success of Star Trek™️ Fleet Command, Scopely acquired top Irish game developer DIGIT Game Studios, their collaborator on the top-grossing game. DIGIT and Scopely have been partners on the game since the start of development in 2015.
Over the last eight months, the game welcomed new officers and ships including Carol Marcus (Alice Eve) and Officer D'Jaoki (DJ Steve Aoki, a super fan of the franchise), and garnered multiple awards, including: Webby Awards for 'Best Strategy Game' and 'Best Technical Achievement', a Google Play Award nomination for 'Best Breakthrough Game' and Tabby, Shorty and SXSW Gaming recognitions.
Star Trek™️ Fleet Command is part of Scopely's broad slate of both original and beloved product experiences across a diverse range of genres. Additional Scopely games include WWE Champions 2019, The Walking Dead: Road To Survival™, YAHTZEE® With Buddies, Wheel of Fortune®: Free Play and Looney Tunes™️ World of Mayhem.
UPDATE: After publication, Scopely reached out and asked for us to omit mention of Aoki being a super fan of the game, as well as a section about a panel at the Official Star Trek 2019 Convention, saying they had originally sent a non-final version of the press release.
