Square Enix promotes Yamamoto to North American CEO

Square Enix has promoted two of its most senior staff, with European boss John Yamamoto taking the role of North American president and CEO.

Square Enix has promoted two of its most senior staff, with European boss John Yamamoto taking the role of North American president and CEO.

Daishiro Okada, previously president and COO, will move to the position of vice chairman of Square Enix.

"We are excited that John will be joining our senior leadership in North America, and we will benefit immensely from his experience," commented Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix.

"John's proven track record as a senior executive and his strong understanding of our industry make him an ideal candidate to help lead our North American initiatives."

Yamamoto will continue to act as CEO of the European division while focusing on the publisher's efforts to expand in the North American region.
