Square Enix launches mature games label
Sub-label to be dedicated to Japanese localisations of violent games
Square Enix has announced it will launch a new sub-label dedicated to Japanese localisations of violent, Western-developed games.
The label, called Extreme Edges, will be used for games that receive Japan's CERO D or Z content ratings - which correspond to PEGI's 16+ and 18+ ratings in the UK, reports Eurogamer.
Games expected to be published under the new label include upcoming Japanese releases from Square subsidiary Eidos, and also many of the Activision games published by Square in the East.
Extreme Edges will launch on May 6 and the first game to be published under it will be a new map pack for the PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2.
