Namco Bandai, the cult videogame publisher, will launch the remake of the seminal ’80’s action horror game ‘Splatterhouse’ exclusively to UK media at the eighth annual Metal Hammer Golden Gods as part of their sponsorship of the ‘Metal As Fuck’ award category. Taking place at London’s IndigO2 venue the Metal Hammer Golden Gods is the biggest night on the metal calendar and sees rock stars from around the world descend on London for a night of debauched celebrations.

Splatterhouse centres around the bloody and brutal quest of Rick to find his beloved Jennifer after she is kidnapped by Dr. West’s “Corrupted”. Having been fatally wounded, Rick finds and wears a terror mask that instantly transforms him into a super strength killer who can literally rip his enemies apart. The story is the retelling of the original 1980’s game but with a few new twists. In 1988, the original Splatterhouse arcade game was the first game ever to receive a ‘Parental Guidance’ warning prior to the days of official age ratings.

If that wasn’t enough to demonstrate Splatterhouse’s metal credentials, the all new soundtrack to the game features a host of Metal Hammer Golden Gods nominees including Five Finger Death Punch and previous Golden God awards winners Lamb of God.

As well as officially unveiling the game to UK media on-board the exclusive HMS Hammer VIP boat, Namco Bandai Partners will also be the official sponsors of the public facing gig-boat that will once again play host to three of the world’s most raucous bands for the frenzied pleasure of 500 lucky rock fans. Namco Bandai Partners will also be providing first-play opportunities for the 1500

Head of UK PR for Namco Bandai Partners Lee Kirton said “We‘re incredibly excited that Splatterhouse is to be part of this well celebrated awards show. Splatterhouse is a perfect relationship between brilliant Rock music and brutally enjoyable game play, and we look forward to celebrating this on the night. It’s time to rock.”

Metal Hammer publisher Chris Ingham commented: “Splatterhouse is one of the seminal arcade games of the ‘80’s that I remember well. Not only is the game awesome but Namco have assembled a soundtrack of bands that any Metal Hammer reader would be excited to put on the stereo and for that reason we are delighted to welcome them to the Golden Gods for the first time.”
