Splash Damage unveils Bethesda title as Brink

New "genre-breaking" original IP is teased ahead of E3 unveiling

London-based developer Splash Damage has revealed that its secret project with Fallout 3 publisher Bethesda Softworks is an original IP named Brink.

Although a teaser trailer has been released to sister site Eurogamer.net, it reveals little about the game - with only a brief hint at a science fiction themed storyline. Splash Damage's experience though has so far solely been in first-person shoots such as Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz earlier in the month Bethesda's European managing director Sean Brennan confirmed the game was a FPS, saying: "That's a product that we believe is a genre-breaker, it's a real killer app."

"From a quality perspective we're pitching that along the same lines as Fallout 3. We've kept it under lock and key, there are so many innovative features in there we don't want to reveal them too soon. We've spent significant resources developing the title. And that's a great example of our European work," he added.

The game it is due to be released in spring 2010 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. It will also being demonstrated in more detail at E3 next week.

Bethesda and Splash Damage signed a long-term development partnership in May of last year, as part of the former's attempts to increase their influence in the European market.
