SouthPeak's PAX line-up

Big Bang Mini, Brave: Shaman's Challenge, Igor The Game, My Baby, Ninjatown, Raven Squad, Things on Wheels and X-Blades.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MIDLOTHIAN, VA – August 28, 2008 - SouthPeak Games today announced its plans for the upcoming Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle on August 29-31, 2008. Located at Booth 1342, SouthPeak will showcase its upcoming lineup of games with a variety of hands-on demos and producer-led demonstrations. The development teams from Two Worlds: The Temptation and X-Blades will be present, as will Ninjatown creator Shawn Smith, for interview opportunities. PAX will also mark the first public showing of the upcoming XBLA racer, Things on Wheels (ToW).

SouthPeak is also coordinating an X-Blades Live event at the show. The interactive event has seven stations inspired by the central regions from the X-Blades game. Players begin at the SouthPeak Games booth, where they get a map and the journey begins. Each station has a gem that can be won after completing a certain challenge. After getting all of the gems, players are entered into contests to win prizes such as 32” 1080p LCD HDTVs, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, an Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and more.

“We’re very excited to be a part of the Penny Arcade Expo this year,” said Melanie Mroz, CEO of SouthPeak Games. “We look forward to capturing the attention and imagination of attendees with both the variety of games on display as well as our interactive events.”

The following is a list of titles that will be at the show:

Big Bang Mini (Nintendo DS™ – January 2009)

This addictive fast paced shoot’em up puts a flashy new spin on classic arcade gameplay. Players are challenged to navigate their ship through a brilliant array of highly stylized levels as they launch a bevy of fireworks at waves of dynamic enemies. Players will use the stylus to create their own fireworks displays and combo attacks in order to defeat waves of challenging enemies. Versus play, online rankings, and other gameplay modes only add to the chaos that ensues.

Brave: Shaman’s Challenge (Nintendo DS – Winter 2008)

Taking place in Native American lands of long ago, Brave: Shaman’s Challenge follows a young boy named Brave in his quest to protect everything he holds dear. He alone stands against a group of evil Shaman dead set on reviving their old master; the Wendigo. Brave: Shaman’s Challenge features a cast of intriguing characters, a diverse set of amazing magic spells, a richly developed game world, and more puzzles than you can shake a shaman’s stick at!

Igor The Game (Windows PC, Wii™ & Nintendo DS – September 2008)

The game is based on the highly anticipated animated movie starring John Cusack, Jay Leno, Molly Shannon, John Cleese and Eddie Izzard; created by Exodus Film Group in cooperation with MGM Studios. In the Wii version of the game, players have the ability to choose one of the main characters (Igor, Eva, Scamper or Brain) and play either simultaneously or cooperatively with up to four people. The Nintendo DS version utilizes the stylus to perform movement combinations, combat enemies and solve puzzles. Players can custom build their own monsters to take on puzzle challenges and battle against other mad scientists.

My Baby (Nintendo DS – Fall 2008)

My Baby gives users the chance to raise and care for a realistic infant. The My Baby games feature advanced AI behavior, as babies have reactions to stimuli that closely resemble those in real life. Gameplay is based on interactions players have with their baby by using the Nintendo DS stylus, blowing into the microphone and using their soothing voice. Gamers can follow their instincts or, if necessary, follow the advice of an in-game doctor to care for their baby properly. The in-game infants will evolve during the game, both physically and psychologically, giving players a charming and rewarding experience.

Ninjatown (Nintendo DS – October 2008)

A diverse group of fun-loving Ninjas populate the vibrant yet peaceful place known as Ninjatown. However, after the eruption of a nearby volcano, Ninjatown is attacked by hordes of sinister enemies lead by Mr. Demon, who, for reasons unknown, is bent on destruction. The game is played from the top down, where the player uses the stylus to strategically place Ninjas to defend each area. The action is non-stop!

Raven Squad (Xbox 360 & Windows PC – Fall 2008)

Raven Squad is a tactical action game set in the Amazonian jungles, and blends a first person shooter (FPS) experience with the command and overview advantages of a real-time strategy (RTS) game. Players can solve each mission situation using a combination of the two genres on their own or cooperatively with a friend. Also, they always have the ability to switch between eight different characters with their own unique background, personalities, behaviors, weapons and skills.

Things on Wheels (Xbox 360 LIVE® Arcade – Fall 2008)

ToW is an all–out racing game pitting tricked out remote control (RC) cars against one another as they blast through a huge art-deco mansion. Best described as "a tribute to ReVolt,” the arcade style is reinforced by a simple pick up and play system that makes it easy to get anyone into the mix. For the racing connoisseurs out there, the state of the art car physics and control dynamics of ToW’s competitive racing will surely impress. Play locally with friends on a split-screen, or online via Xbox LIVE. Use in-game bonuses to vex the competition as you work your way into first place. Focused on crazy arcade style racing, ToW is the type of game that will have you screaming for more!

X-Blades (Xbox 360, Windows PC & PLAYSTATION 3 system – Fall 2008)

Ayumi, the main character, is an adventurous relic hunter in search of an artifact believed to hold the fate of the world in its grasp. Featuring anime noir, film-quality animation and high-speed gameplay, players can upgrade magic abilities to fight off elemental beasts and design their own control scheme, mapping magic attacks to the buttons they want.
