Southpeak appoints Reba McDermott as CFO
Promotion to take pressure from CEO Melanie Mroz as company enters mobile and social gaming
Southpeak Interactive has announced the promotion of former interim chief accounting officer, Reba McDermott, to the post of CFO.
The move will serve to take pressure away from the company's CEO, Melanie Mroz, who was previously also acting as interim CFO.
"This promotion is a natural progression based on Reba's deep knowledge of the company, strong accounting background, and demonstrated ability to effectively execute responsibilities under her former role, which included [controllership, financial planning and external reporting]," said Terry Phillips, chairman of SouthPeak.
"We expect that filling the role of CFO will also allow our CEO Melanie Mroz, who was formerly acting as interim CFO, to further focus on developing the business. As we continue to build our brand and exciting portfolio of titles, as well as diversify our direct-to-consumer offering with entry into the mobile marketplace and social gaming sector, now is an ideal time to ensure we have the proper infrastructure in place to support our aggressive growth initiatives."
Earlier this week SouthPeak announced that it had settled a case filed by fellow publisher Paradox Interactive over alleged witholding of around $500,000 in royalties.
