Soundtrack to a Crime Life

New German artists announced to accompany D12 and Hip Hop's finest on Konami of Europe's Crime Life soundtrack

17th August, 2005

Konami of Europe has announced that it has recruited further artists to provide tracks for the soundtrack of its forthcoming gang-based action title, Crime Life: Gang Wars.

The game already features Detroit rap collective D12 as vocal talent for key characters in Crime Life: Gang Wars and who provide bespoke music for the game's soundtrack, and the group will now be supported by a wealth of additional talent. D12 member, Kon Artis, provides three artists from his Runyon Avenue label in the form of Big Dame, PHEAR and T Baby, while Konami has also recruited up and coming stars of Germany's fast-growing Hip Hop scene with artists from the Roxsta label.

Roxsta signings Spax, Fratelli B, Pyro, Doppeldecker featuring Tefla and Jaleel and Leif & Direkt will all have tracks in Crime Life: Gang Wars, providing a suitable urban theme to the gritty events of the game - and true international flavour to the soundtrack. Further European talent is also showcased in the form of Guvnor P, Doom Man and Jason Flemyng, Seyi, Sweetie Ire, Dek the Raw, Mnemonic, All you can Beat Productions and Stylbik.

Crime Life: Gang Wars focuses on a young hood called Tre, as the player tries to pick a path through the many criminal opportunities the game's Grand Central City location offers.

Using strong narrative elements, the game explores ideas pioneered in celebrated gang movies such as New Jack City and Boyz 'n the Hood, with Tre attempting to protect those close to him from exploitation and abuse, while also being on guard against those that conspire against him. Urban culture provides the central theme for Crime Life: Gang Wars so the use of D12 and the new artists fits in perfectly with the game's use of Hip Hop music, fashion and attitude.

"With the addition of European and German talent to Crime Life: Gang Wars, the game will enjoy a wide-ranging soundtrack that will appeal to everybody," commented Martin Schneider, Sales and Marketing Director Germany, for Konami of Europe. "The music we have will create a realistic backdrop to the hard-hitting action on display, breathing life into Crime Life: Gang Wars' mean streets."

Crime Life will be released for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC in November 2005. For more information, please visit www.konami-crimelife.com. For more information, please contact Steve Merrett on 020 7903 5122 or email steve@voltagepr.com.
