Sony Japan announces Loco Roco PSP bundle

As the Nintendo DS continues to outsell the PSP by a healthy margin in Japan, Sony Computer Entertainment has announced plans to launch a new Loco Roco-themed hardware bundle.

As the Nintendo DS continues to outsell the PSP by a healthy margin in Japan, Sony Computer Entertainment has announced plans to launch a new Loco Roco-themed hardware bundle.

For YEN 24,799 (EURO 170), consumers will be able to pick up a black or white PSP together with a 32MB memory stick and a copy of Loco Roco, all presented in a specially designed box.

The bundle will go on sale on July 13th, along with a Loco Roco PSP carrying case priced at YEN 1575 (EURO 11).

Sony will be hoping the new bundle gives Japanese PSP sales a much-needed boost. According to Media create figures, more than 135,000 DS Lite units were sold in the territory between May 19th and June 4th, compared to just under 25,000 PSPs.

It's not yet known whether the Loco Roco bundle will make it to Europe, but the game is due to launch in the UK and Ireland on June 23rd, and on June 28th in all other SCEE territories. A playable demo is available from YourPSP.com.
