Sonic Heroes uses RenderWare
Sega's latest Sonic title is using RenderWare in order to speed up the game's multi-platform development, Criterion announced yesterday. All three versions of the game were seen at E3, and described as 20 per cent complete at the time.
"We decided to license RenderWare because the solution provided us with not only the technology, but also the best methodologies for efficient multi-platform development, enabling our team to focus on what really makes Sonic stand out," Sonic Team's Yuji Naka commented.
This is not the first time that a major Japanese publisher has opted to use Renderware in its products - Konami has previously used the system to power the Pro Evolution Soccer series (Winning Eleven in Japan and the USA).
Sonic Heroes has been described by Sonic Team as a totally new game, and not an extension of the Adventure series.
