Social network Tagged acquires Hi5

Portals now claim combined audience of 330 million registered users

Social networking site Tagged has acquired gaming portal Hi5, claiming it now boasts over 330 million users.

Hi5 was founded in 2003 and counts outspoken executive Alex St John amongst senior management. Initially both portals will run independently but the long term plan is to merger the two offerings.

"An opportunity of this magnitude is uncommon and exciting as the addition of Hi5 immediately doubles our overall active user base and grows combined registered users past 330 million members." said Greg Tseng, Tagged CEO.

"Hi5's global footprint complements Tagged's and instantly builds on our leadership position as the world's first, largest and best social network to meet new people."

Alex St John added that Tagged was the "perfect home" for Hi5, stating that there is an "unanswered opportunity to connect people inline."
