SNS+ raises $12.5 million in funding

Social game publisher attracts interest from Chinese VC firm

The social game publisher and distributor SNS+ has raised $12.5 million in new funding.

The round was led by the Chinese VC firm WI Harper Group and Matrix Partners. It is the largest amount raised by a Taiwanese internet company in its early stages in more than a decade.

SNS+ is largely focused on the markets in Thailand and Taiwan, distributing social games and providing the developers with a range of technical and advisory services.

As of June 2011, the company had published more than 60 games on Facebook and 15 games on other platforms.

"SNS+ is not just a Taiwan and China play, but even more so a Southeast Asian play," said WI Harper Group chairman Peter Liu in a statement.

"We are very excited to have strengthened our key partnership with WI Harper through this financing," added SNS+ CEO Along Chang.

"Understanding the cultural differences in all of our markets, and constantly striving to meet the demands of our players is an exceptional advantage for SNS+."

The WI Harper Group is actively seeking other investment opportunities in the games industry, particularly "HTML5-based mobile and online developers, publishers and game platforms."
