SIEGE 2009
Peak 10 lends support to next month's gathering in Atlanta.
ATLANTA - September 22, 2009 – Peak 10, Inc., the leading independent data center operator and managed services provider, will serve as a keynote sponsor and panelist moderator for the 2009 Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo (SIEGE), which is being held on Oct. 2-4, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Atlanta.
Hosted by the Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA), SIEGE has become one of the leading computer and video game conferences in North America. The event includes three days of keynote lectures from industry experts, interactive panel discussions on pertinent industry topics and a career fair.
Peak 10 will sponsor and introduce SIEGE’s opening keynote speaker, Jason Della Rocca, former executive director of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) and founder of Perimeter Partners. Additionally, Bill Cashman, senior solutions manager at Peak 10 and an avid gamer, will moderate the expo’s Scalable Infrastructure panel, which will showcase best practices, methodology and technologies utilized to ensure a secure and fast IT infrastructure while maintaining scalability.
“We are excited to be introducing such a sought-after expert as Jason,” said Matt Searfoss, the vice president and general manager of Peak 10 Atlanta. “His infectious passion for interactive entertainment will energize our attendees to spread his enthusiasm for growing the industry locally and beyond.”
Della Rocca is the former president of the IGDA and founder of Perimeter Partners, a consultancy focused on developing game industry clusters around the world in partnership with stakeholders from the game industry, government and academia. Della Rocca has been involved in the industry for more than a dozen years and has spoken at conferences worldwide. Due to his advocacy for expressive power of games and industry-building efforts, he was awarded with the inaugural Ambassador Award at the eighth annual Game Developers Choice Awards, which honors individuals who work to advance the industry through facilitating better game communities or by educating those outside the industry on its promise.
“Peak 10 has a keen understanding of the critical role that redundant, highly-available IT solutions play in game companies’ success,” said Cashman. “There are a variety of virtualization solutions available, which a growing number of our gaming clients are utilizing to maintain uptime and reduce latency. I am looking forward to sharing these solutions and best practices during the Scalable Infrastructure panel and hope attendees will walk away with further insight on how to best secure and maintain their applications and IT infrastructures.”
Active in the computer and video game industry, Peak 10 offers cutting-edge cloud-based services and virtualization solutions that allow businesses to reduce hardware and space requirements, optimize server utilization and provide higher levels of availability for an organization’s IT infrastructure. Peak 10 has leveraged this technology in customized solutions benefiting game companies in the interactive games sector such as Emergent Game Technologies, a leading source for all the game development tools required to build, test, manage and expand interactive games.
