ATLANTA, Ga. – July 20, 2009 — The Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA) announced that early-bird registration for the third annual Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo (SIEGE) would close July 31. Scheduled for Oct. 2 – 4, 2009, at the Crowne Plaza NW, SIEGE focuses on the fast-growing game design industry in the South. Registration at the discounted early-bird rates can be found at www.siegecon.net.
“Reaction to last year’s SIEGE was everything we could hope for, and we’re looking forward to an even greater event. Many of last year’s speakers have asked to return, as well as leading game industry figures from all over the country,” said Andrew Greenberg, SIEGE director.
SIEGE’s speakers include artists, programmers, designers, writers, teachers and business executives. Other speakers include government figures, experts on computer game violence and social issues, and more. The convention also includes a number of special events. Among these are game design tournaments, game playing tournaments, parties, college and career fairs, and more.
“SIEGE plays an integral role in building and retaining the core momentum for sustained growth of the video game industry in the Southeast,” added Clinton Lowe, president of the Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA). “As a non-profit trade association, we’re very pleased with the cross-industry collaboration fostered by SIEGE, throughout all aspects of planning and execution.”
The event has attracted a variety of sponsors, including Tripwire Interactive and CCP North America, which both signed on as platinum partners. Conference sessions include classes on the latest software, game design techniques, business issues, starting a new company, and other topics.
Early-bird registration ranges from $35 for students to $75 for professionals. GGDA members receive discounts.
