Air Command 3.0 and Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space reduced.

For Immediate Release

Cary, NC, 04 January 2011

A new month, a new year, and brand new special savings at the Shrapnel Games online store, the Gamers Front. Kicking the new year off we are offering two fast playing, highly addictive games at discounted prices all month long. So whether Santa failed to deliver on the games, or you are simply looking for something to help you through the dark winter, look to January's monthly specials to help you out.

For the month of January both Air Command 3.0 and the award-winning Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space are on sale.

Air Command 3.0 is a unique lunchtime strategy game. Air Command 3.0 is an air traffic control simulation. Tense and exciting, this may not be a game about punching holes through the enemy lines with your panzers, but it is one that requires just as much planning and reaction as a typical wargame.

The player is in charge of air traffic control at one of ten airports (a separately available expansion pack adds another thirty-four airports). Your job is to direct in and outbound flights in a wide variety of conditions and situations. The interface is intuitive, allowing one to jump right into the game. Digitized chatter and realistic scenarios (playable in minutes, not hours) help draw the gamer into the world of Air Command 3.0.

There is a unique thrill in orchestrating the arrivals and departures of the aircraft filling the scope. Situations can change in an instant, and suddenly the organized chaos takes a turn for the worse. Can that adrenaline surge racing through your body allow a quick reaction or are two jets filled with holiday travelers about to explode over the tarmac?

As Gamespy's review states, "Have you ever seen those jugglers that juggle three objects and then suddenly have three or four more thrown into the mix? That's what it feels like during the rush hour in Air Command 3.0. Just when you think you've got the situation under control, it changes. However, when you get it right, it's very rewarding, and when you get it wrong, you're left with the mix of anger and desire to improve that is sometimes called addiction."

Air Command 3.0 is on sale for $34.95. It is available for Windows as either a physical copy shipped to your door or as a download.

The award-winning Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space is another game that can be described as a lunchtime game. The typical session lasts about fifteen minutes. In those fifteen minutes you can, as a starship captain in Sector Prime, discover new worlds, capture alien life forms, make friends, make enemies, battle for your very life, avoid black holes, deal with a thief, trade with an intelligent space bird, and face the doom of all known life. And then you can do it all again but with completely new results.

Each game session is set up randomly, from the locations of the planetary systems, to what they contain, to the foes you may face. Additionally, there are three types of professions the player can choose from, with each profession providing a different play experience. Since no two games are ever the same, Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space provides a new experience with each play!

Speaking of new experiences Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space is extremely mod friendly. Even today, years after its release, mod makers are quite active. Mods can range from something simple, such as changing a few statistics, to entirely new conversions. All that is required is a labor of love and imagination.

"If you like space adventure, a small dose of action and lore that feels inspired by The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, then you'll want to pick this game up and play it." (James Fudge, Gameshark)
