Veteran actor and Hollywood icon William Shatner will host the inaugural Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts, scheduled to take place in Vancouver this September.
Designed to recognise and reward Canada's outstanding achievements in videogame development and animation, the CAEAA ceremony will take place on September 14th at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond, Vancouver.
Organisers are planning to treat the event just like a Hollywood awards ceremony, with limousines, a red carpet, glitzy reception and black-tie dinner, and William Shatner taking the helm as the awards host for the evening.
Holly Carinci, CAEAA Producer, commented: "We wanted Mr. Shatner as our Host from the beginning and I cannot tell you how excited we are to learn that he has accepted the role."
"We have all worked really hard to create a world-class awards show that reflects these remarkable industries and now we have a phenomenal host in Mr. Shatner that will guarantee a fun, exciting, and memorable evening for everyone," she added.
The awards will recognise Canadian achievements in three sectors of the Electronic and Animated Arts industry: talent development (New Media and Animation Art Schools), animation, and video game development.
