SETI Institute to host game jam
Entries must be themed around the search for intelligent alien life and feature real scientific data
This October the SETI Institute will be hosting SETI-JAM, a games development event themed around their goal of discovering extraterrestrial life.
Developers are invited to create educational games based around the Drake Equation, a formula famously used to estimate the number of alien civilisations that may exist in the universe.
Their official website says: "Your games will not only be great achievements in coding prowess, but will also help capture the public's interest in the actual science and technology advancements helping humanity understand the origin, nature, and prevalence of life in the universe!"
Entrants will be able to consult with the institute's scientists during the three day event, and will ultimately pitch their game to leading members of NASA.
Registration opens September 29th through the SETI-JAM website.
