Sega Mobile appoints new vice president
Confirms importance of Western focus
Sega of America has appointed former Electronic Arts executive Linda Chaplin as vice president of the company's mobile division.
Chaplin will be responsible for overseeing operations in the Americas, including product development, sales and marketing - duties previously undertaken by Sega of Japan. She will also play a role in expanding Sega's presence in the mobile market.
Whilst at EA, where she spent more than a decade, Chaplin was senior director of strategic sales and worldwide licensing, heading up the publisher's mobile business. She has also worked for Sony, Data East and Activision.
In a statement, Sega said Chaplin's appointment formed part of a strategy which will see the company focus increasingly on Western markets, with the company committed to "realising opportunities in the West" and developing "content specifically targeted to Western audiences".
Sega of America COO Simon Jeffery added, "Linda's industry knowledge will accelerate Sega's efforts to become a serious player in mobile markets. We're certain she will bring a fresh perspective to this division which holds enormous growth opportunities for the company."
