Sci-Fi London 2009

SCI-FI-LONDON today announced that EA UK, will once again be the official games sponsor for this year’s SCI-FI-LONDON, the UK’s only dedicated science fiction and fantastic film festival which will run from 29 April – 4 May 2009 at the Apollo West End theatre.

This follows the successful 2008 partnership, which saw EA present exclusive game demonstrations and trailers for such titles as Dead Space™ and Mass Effect™ at both SCI-FI LONDON and its winter offshoot festival, Oktoberfest.

As exclusive games sponsor, EA will be conducting activity to promote its 2009/10 line-up, which includes Dead Space™: Extraction, Dante’s Inferno™, Dragon Age™: Origins, Brütal Legend™ and more. Visitors to SCI-FI LONDON will get the chance to see new game trailers, win merchandise and games, and play a host of EA titles already on the market such as The Lord Of The Rings®: Conquest™ and Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3.

Festival Director Louis Savy said: "We are extremely pleased to have EA UK as our key sponsor for this year's SCI-FI-LONDON festival. The 2008 partnership was a great success, and included the launching of our new winter festival Oktoberfest. Several of their current and upcoming titles fit perfectly with our programme, which aims to appeal to a variety of science-fiction fans.

Over the last 8 years SCI-FI-LONDON has proved to be a hit with its audience bringing exciting, challenging and interesting premieres to the UK along with a program of rarely screened classics. Our website now attracts over 60,000 unique visitors a month and festival attendance is set to top 100,000.include booklet 25,000 print run, number of van driving around London, 300,000 leaflets handed out.

The festival takes place at the fantastic APOLLO WEST END cinema in Lower Regent Street, central London. This five-screen state-of-the-art venue is fully licensed and the audience can take their drinks in with them, so expect some champagne screenings!

ABOUT SCI FI LONDON:

The dates for the 8th SCI-FI-LONDON film festival, a six-day event from Wednesday 29th April to Monday 4th May 2009 at the Apollo Piccadilly Circus. The festival will feature World, European and UK premieres and three different all-night programmes to include our notorious ANIMÉ ALLNIGHTER and a nod to things a little J-HORROR with a selection of nasty Japanese SF/Horror films.

The festival line-up is still being decided but we have confirmation of the UK premiere of THE MOTHER OF INVENTION (Dir:Andrew Bowser, 2009, USA www.exploreinspire.com) – a fabulously funny mockumentary about two nerds fighting it out to win the Thomas Edision Inventors Award. We also have confirmation of the UK premiere of the newly treated GHOST IN THE SHELL (Dir. Mamoru Oshii, 1995/2008, Japan). One of the most successful animé movies of all time, this version has been completely re-coloured, digitally cleaned and has a brand new soundtrack and score.
