The UK Engineering and Technology Board have announced a new initiative to promote science, engineering and technology-based career opportunities within the games industry.
The ETB is calling for young, British, games industry professionals who are trained in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) to become role models, discussing their career experiences within the games industry on the SET resource and information portal, Scenta.co.uk.
According to recent research cited by the ETB, almost seventy per cent of pupils would like more information to help them choose their options in school, and 72 per cent of those questioned would prefer to receive advice from someone who currently works in a particular job or career.
Seventy per cent of respondents questioned said that they used websites to gather information and advice, prompting the ETB's role model initiative, which will be supported by a national PR campaign over the coming six months.
By completing a short online application form, interested parties can apply as a games industry role model for SET students, offering a little insight and advice on career prospects, pitfalls and opportunities within the games industry.
