Sanyo Inductive Charging System
Officially-licensed inductive charging system for Wii Remotes.
San Diego, March 22. 2011
Mad Catz® Interactive, Inc. (“Mad Catz” or “the Company”) (AMEX/TSX: MCZ) today announced North American distribution for the SANYO Inductive Charging System, the only Nintendo Wii charging system to be officially licensed by Nintendo.
Fully compatible with the Nintendo Wii MotionPlus accessory, the SANYO Inductive Charging System comes complete with two Rechargeable Battery Packs, compatible with both the official Nintendo Wii Remote and the all-new Mad Catz ‘REACTOR’ Wii Controller.
The Charging System uses the latest in electromagnetic inductive technology to store and charge up to two Wii Remotes without the need to remove protective silicone covers or the Wii MotionPlus accessory.
The breakthrough charging system makes use of SANYO’s unique ‘’eneloop’ battery technology, which enables hundreds of charges and which is proven to retain 85% of initial charge, even after a full year of use, while conventional NiMH batteries lose 50%. Coupled with the ability to recharge and re-use over and over again, low self-discharge make ‘eneloop’ batteries the perfect choice for long-term intermittent use.
Made under license from Nintendo, the Charging System includes built-in charge failure detection, automatically stopping the charge if metal pieces such as coins interrupt the contact between the Wii Remote battery pack and the charge stand.
Powered via USB cable, the Charging System charges gamers’ Wii Remotes by plugging directly into the Wii console, with no need for an external power adapter.
The SANYO Inductive Charging System for Nintendo Wii is available now for North America on the Mad Catz online web store (store.gameshark.com).
