Samsung, Microsoft launch cross platform promotions
Exclusive Perfect Dark Zero content available for selected handsets
Consumers who purchase Perfect Dark Zero for Microsoft's next-generation Xbox 360 console are being offered access to exclusive mobile content in a cross-promotion with Samsung Telecommunications America.
In-box promotional inserts provide details of the content, which is available for selected Samsung handsets and includes voice tones from the game's heroine, Joanna Dark. An exclusive 45 second soundtrack ringtone, wallpapers, screensavers and additional PDZ themed content will also be available for download.
Those who weren't lucky enough to secure one of the first wave of next-generation consoles can visit Samsung's promotional website to enter the sweepstake and potentially walk away with one of 250 brand new Xbox 360 consoles, or one of 500 Perfect Dark Zero games.
Samsung senior VP Peter Skarzynski stated: "We're pleased to be able to work with a gaming leader like Microsoft to develop this promotion around the launch of such a highly-anticipated video game, bringing relevant mobile content to users who crave a constant connection to their favourite game."
Samsung has invested heavily in the Perfect Dark franchise, developing in-store materials, promotional activities and a website to encourage gamers to download content, enter the sweepstakes and maintain a cross-platform link to the game universe.
The Xbox 360 game, which is a sequel to the acclaimed Nintendo 64 title Perfect Dark, features a Samsung phone which is used by the lead character to communicate and transfer information. The Samsung phone is an integral aspect of the game, and also features on the accompanying game website.
Xbox's Bill Nielsen added: "Microsoft is excited about collaborating with Samsung Mobile on promotions surrounding the launch of Perfect Dark Zero. We're giving gaming fans an opportunity to get their hands on a stellar combination of the hottest new game, the hottest new gaming console and the hottest mobile phones on the market."
