Cary, North Carolina, July 23, 2008
Dear Editor –
As you may have heard, Ascaron Entertainment and Intel have announced a partnership (see below) to be the first to include fantastic new mobility PC features in Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, the Action RPG set for a September 2008 release on PC in North America from cdv Software Entertainment USA. These new features will allow players using notebook PCs, which now account for approximately 70% of the PC gaming market in North America, to enjoy Sacred 2: Fallen Angel in ways no other PC game has before.
PC games have recently been under attack as a nearly extinct gaming platform. We, as a long-time PC publisher, do not share that pessimistic perspective. But we do believe that the renewed focus on optimizing Triple-A titles so that they play just as well on the significant number of laptops entering the market, is one way that we can directly contribute toward reinvigorating gaming on the PC, ensuring continued high quality content for those gamers that prefer to play great games on their laptops.
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel will be the first game optimized for the new Intel Centrino2 mobile processor's feature-set. Also, an ad-hoc WiFi multiplayer mode will allow players to connect and play via WiFi without the need for an Internet connection, while an in-game battery meter and a WiFi signal strength indicator ensure gamers will have key information available about their laptops while playing Sacred 2. As the screenshot comparison shows (see below), the Centrino2 will allow Sacred 2 to showcase more of its powerful graphics and gameplay on the mobile platform than ever before. The attached video from Ascaron and Intel also gives an extensive overview of the new Centrino2 features, which are sure to please gamers on-the-go.
Our Mobile Gaming Press Pack, available at the URL below, contains side-by-side comparison screenshots (Centrino vs. Centrino2) along with a video overview of the new mobile features of Sacred 2.

Sacred 2, the Action-RPG will boast a new level of optimization specifically targeted at gaming on notebooks from the hardcore gaming rigs down to the 128Mb onboard chipsets.
In the development of the notebook gaming technology in SACRED 2 – Fallen Angel, the focus has been on 3 main areas, namely core processes, graphic optimization and notebook-specific features.
Notebook-specific features include essential items such as in-game battery and wi-fi indicator displays, and the Ad-Hoc multiplayer mode (AMM) which is an innovative approach to gaming “on the move”, delivering fast Ad-Hoc wireless game creation and joining. All functions are actively supported by the Intel Centrino Processor Technology.
Commenting on SACRED 2 – Fallen Angel for notebooks, Heiko tom Felde, Managing Director of Ascaron Entertainment GmbH, explained, “Mobile PCs now account for over 60% of all PC hardware sales [in Europe]. Over the past few years this has created a huge market growth which is often disregarded by other major releases. The philosophy behind Sacred has always been to be accessible to everyone, in terms of gameplay, entertainment and system requirements. Notebooks and SACRED 2 – Fallen Angel go hand-in-hand, allowing everyone to participate in the enjoyable and rewarding game Ascaron has developed.”
In respect of the partnership between Intel and Ascaron, tom Felde says, “Our relationship with Intel has been superb. The level of support and professionalism provided by Intel is reflected in the performance of SACRED 2 on notebook systems. We are pleased that Intel opened their doors for Ascaron to work so closely and feature SACRED 2 – Fallen Angel as the leading showcase for Intel’s exceptional new Centrino2 platform.”
