Ryan 'Filipino Champ' Ramirez
Super Street Fighter IV players gets sponsorship from Borderland Gaming.
Saturday, October 15, 2010 - Columbus, OH
Connecticut based Borderland Gaming (BLGaming) will sign a one year sponsorship agreement with Ryan 'Filipino Champ' Ramirez of California this upcoming Saturday, October 16th. Ryan will be the company's second Super Street Fighter IV sponsored player, after adding Eric 'Juicebox' Albino to the team only two month's prior. The signing itself will take place at the major console fighting event 'Season's Beatings' held at Momo2, located at 2885 Olentangy River Road in Columbus, OH. Competitive gaming has been steadily on the rise in the past few years, as tournaments and player sponsorships continue to become more sizable and more more abundant. With the growing popularity of internet streaming, a person can watch their favorite players live over the web in everything from a casual game to a tournament setting - paving the way for larger sponsorships, greater production budgets, and the potential to partially earn a living as a professional gamer.
Filipino Champ is widely recognized in the Super Street Fighter 4 community as the best Dhalsim player in North America (Dhalsim is one of the many selectable characters in CAPCOM's Super Street Fighter 4 title). He can often be seen at one of the numerous events throughout Northern California, and can be seen once again battling for the gold at this weekend's event against some of the greatest players in the scene worldwide. As with any of their sponsorships, it is BLGaming's hope that the addition of Filipino Champ to Team BLG will be a positive influence on competitive gamers everywhere - showing that with enough hard work, creativity, and dedication, you can indeed make a living doing what you love.
This will be BLGaming's second official sponsorship with a console gamer, however it will certainly not be the last. BLGaming has created a competitive gaming (PC and console) website to bridge the gap between gaming communities and allow players from all competitive games to interact with one another through Tournaments, voice chat, online forums, and blogs. They are committed to bringing their viewers only the best in professional gaming tips, strategies, insights, HD streams, reviews, and competitions. You can view their site online at www.blgaming.com - with an improved, community-centric version of their site going live on November 1st, 2010.
Season's Beatings will take place from Friday, October 15th - Sunday, October 17 at Momo2 in downtown Columbus, OH and is hosted by Chris 'Ghaleon' and Fugee - information on the event can be found on the Event's page of shoryuken.com here: http://shoryuken.com/f7/seasons-beatings-redemption-u-s-vs-intl-ssfiv-5-5-oct-15-17-columbus-oh-245802/
