Tucson, AZ Dating back to the time not long ago when mixed martial arts (MMA) was condemned in the mass media as "human cockfighting" and state after state passed statutes banning the sport, POSTAL developer Running With Scissors has been a strong supporter of this innovative new form of fighting, sponsoring several MMA fighters in recent years. In 2007, however, the mainstream media finally caught up with the curve and has widely christened MMA "the fastest-growing sport in America."
The latest addition to RWS' long and lethal legacy is also its first International combatant-24 year old Keith Turner from the United Kingdom. "We are so proud of Keith, he breaks our international MMA cherry, I can smell the blood now," chuckled RWS Ring Master Vince Desi. Keith stands 5'11" and weighs a ripped 205 lbs. (Keith has competed in both body building and pro wrestling-where he was taught the ropes by the great Dory Funk Jr). Currently training in the UK with UFC veteran Ian "The Machine" Freeman, Keith is slated to be the subject of a feature article in Ultimate Grappling magazine. His manager is Joe Sarti, seen most recently coaching the San Jose Razorclaws MMA team in the IFL. And as a devoted POSTAL fan, Keith expects more of the success fighters have already enjoyed while under RWS sponsorship.
RWS' history of sponsoring MMA fighters is the stuff of legend. It began when POSTAL fan Drew "The Master" Fickett turned to RWS early in his career in hopes of gaining sponsorship. While part of Team Postal, Drew rocketed from regional Rage in the Cage cards in Tucson to the UFC, where he established himself with an upset victory over Josh Koscheck (still Koscheck's only defeat) on Ultimate Fight Night 2. RWS then went on to recruit fighters such as Ed West, Chad "The Postal Punisher" Griggs and Shane "Battlecat" Johnson, now all with the International Fight League (IFL). The game company even sponsored a female MMA fighter in Hayley "The Hammer" Salazar.
