Rooster Teeth expands into the UK with London office

London will be "a proving ground" in a larger, international expansion

Rooster Teeth has opened an office in London, as it seeks to build on its presence in the UK.

The media company, which started in 2003 with the Halo-themed Red vs. Blue, is based in Austin, Texas, and its new London office marks its most decisive step toward growing its presence in the UK and Europe.

Rooster Teeth London will be headed up by Eric Cherry, whose responsibilities will include international markets as well as the UK. Cherry joined Rooster Teeth in 2008, well ahead of its acquisition by Fullscreen in November 2014.

Speaking to Variety, Rooster Teeth co-founder and CEO Matt Hullum described the UK as "a proving ground" in a broader global expansion. Rooster Teeth has already operated a successful event in London, RTX, which attracted 15,000 attendees in October last year.

"Building communities is a goal and we've done a good job in the U.K., but know we could do more," Hullum said. "The talent and community piece in the U.K. has been underserved and we wanted to correct that."

Rooster Teeth currently has 45 million subscribers across its various YouTube channels. In June last year, it revealed its intentions to enter game publishing.
