RockYou appoints Lisa Marino as new CEO
Social company continues game focus as active users reach 20 million
Social gaming company RockYou has announced Lisa Marino as its new CEO, following her tenure as chief operating officer and a successful company restructuring to focus on gaming.
"Over the last three years, Lisa has demonstrated her strong leadership, building RockYou's brand business and later leading its award-winning advertising business. She helped put RockYou on the map as one of the largest social media advertising networks and she managed the transition of RockYou into a leading social gaming company," said chief financial officer Steve Van Horne.
RockYou is currently ranked fourth amongst social gaming companies on Facebook, with almost 20 million monthly active users at present.
Marino joined RockYou in 2008, and became chief revenue officer in 2009. In 2010 she was appointed COO, where she championed the acquisition of 3D engine developer TirNua and in January 2011 UK studio and Gourmet Ranch creator Playdemic.
In February she signed a deal to publish Loot Drop, the first title from John Romero's new studio.
RockYou has also seen a number of other executive appointments recently, including senior vice president of marketing Katrin Osio and creative director John Yoo, senior vice president of games Jonathan Knight, senior vice president of technology Greg Kearney, general counsel Allyson Willoughby, and general manager of media Julie Shumaker.
"RockYou is my passion. I really believe in our talent and the games and ad products we have in our pipeline. I am honoured to lead this team," said Marino. "The rapid evolution of the social gaming space, combined with the collaborative environment we're building at RockYou, inspires me every day."
