Rockstar to release iPhone Chinatown Wars and Beaterator
Both titles to launch on Apple hardware this autumn
Rockstar Games is to release iPhone and iPod Touch versions of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and Beaterator, the company has announced.
Chinatown Wars is "a perfect match" for the Apple devices, said Rockstar's founder Sam Houser. "We are very excited to bring this incredibly ambitious version of Liberty City, with this level of detail and immersive gameplay on Apple's new gaming platforms," he added.
The game will appear on the platforms this autumn, it was confirmed. And in addition the label will also launch an iPhone version of its upcoming PSP game Beaterator at the same time.
Beaterator is a portable music-making application featuring loops and sounds produced by Rockstar and Timbaland. It's an experience which also lends itself well to the touch-screen platform, said Houser.
"The simple, pick-up-and-play nature of Beaterator lends itself so well to the Apple platforms. We are happy to deliver an application that allows for such unprecedented sharing and ease-of-use."
Beaterator is set to launch on PSP on October 2 in Europe. A PSP version of Chinatown Wars is also due for release on the handheld at the end of October.
