Rock band to debut new songs in Chronicles of Spellborn

Dutch rock band Within Temptation has signed a deal to provide exclusive songs for massively-multiplayer online role-playing game The Chronicles of Spellborn.

Within Temptation, which has sold more than one million albums and DVDs since the band was founded in 1996, will perform the new songs at a special virtual event within the game.

"When we heard about the The Chronicles of Spellborn and the fact that it was developed in The Netherlands, we were eager to contribute and write some exclusive tracks," said guitarist Robert Westerholt.

"Almost all of the band members are fanatic gamers. At home and on tour we play fantasy-orientated games to relax and sometimes even to get new inspiration."

Spellborn's Barry Hoffman commented: "We set out to design a game that breaks the standard conventions of online games with The Chronicles of Spellborn. It was a natural extension that we wanted to pioneer new ways that music and gaming interact."
