Slipknot and Simon & Garfunkel to make in-game debut next week.
Guildford, UK. 4th Dec 2009 - Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that both Slipknot and Simon & Garfunkel will make their debut next week in the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™.
These artists join the more than 390 bands currently available through the Rock Band platform. With more than 1,000 songs available, Rock Band is, without question, the industry leader in providing the best selection of interactive musical content, songs and artists.
Rock Band DLC Additions for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 System and Wii
Masked American metal band Slipknot make their Rock Band debut next week with a three pack of songs that includes “Duality,” from the band’s 2004 Platinum-selling album, Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses), and “Psychosocial” and “Sulfur,” both from the band’s No. 1 2008 album, All Hope Is Gone. All Hope Is Gone also features “Snuff,” currently in the Top 10 at Active Rock and the Top 25 at Modern Rock. Slipknot has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards and won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Legendary singer-songwriter duo Simon & Garfunkel (Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel) also make their Rock Band debut next week with two of the group’s most-loved songs – “I Am a Rock” and “The Sounds of Silence” from their 1966 album, Sounds of Silence. “The Sounds of Silence” was also prominently featured in the 1967 film, The Graduate, which helped propel Simon & Garfunkel into mainstream success. The duo released a collection of live recordings with this year’s Simon & Garfunkel, Live 1969, and has won four Grammy Awards, including the 2003 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Additionally, New York-formed alternative rockers Lights Resolve offer up a free track for Rock Band with “Dreaming of Love.” Rolling Stone named Lights Resolve a Breakout Band in 2009.

Rock Band 2 for Wii was released Oct. 9 in Europe. Featuring more than 100 songs (The Rock Band 2 game disc features 84 tracks. In addition, players have access to an additional 20 free DLC tracks. Online connection required.), Rock Band 2 showcases an extensive music catalogue with an eclectic blend of classic and new artists. Rock Band 2 is available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and Wii system. Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Wii versions support downloadable content.
Downloadable content for Wii is purchased via the in-game Rock Band Music Store using Wii Points™ purchased through the Wii™ Shop Channel and can be downloaded to the system memory or to an SD card for additional storage. The tracks stream directly from the SD card for seamless play.
There are now 1,013 tracks available to date via disc and download purchase (complete list of tracks at www.rockband.com/music). Rock Band continues to satisfy music fans’ and gamers' voracious appetite for rock with more than 60 million paid downloads since its launch Nov. 20, 2007. The Rock Band Music Store allows players to preview and purchase downloadable individual music tracks and packs from the vast selection of offerings available to date without ever leaving the game as they build their own custom Rock Band library.
Rock Band and Rock Band 2 are rated "T" for Teen (lyrics, suggestive themes) by the ESRB. Music downloads are not rated by the ESRB.
