Risk Profile
Game for teenagers published by - yes, you guessed it - the Argentinean tax office.
AFIP will launch on July 28th a video game named “Risk Profile”. This video game has an excellent production level and its costs are almost a third part of what usually demands the performance of this kind of entertainment abroad.
This educational video game has a main character, Martina, a fictitious heroine and investigator of AFIP’s Special Cases. She was born in a comic and gained notoriety among children after appearing solving conspiracy cases in some argentine cartoons for children such as Billiken and Genios.
Risk Profile is for children from 10 to 16 years old and has been totally developed in Argentina. The remarkable quality of Risk Profile places it at the same level of other video games sold worldwide. It is the first time a public organism of our country has created a video game for educational purposes. The launching of this product shows that the State is also able to develop high quality material for the cultural consumption of argentine people.
Claudio Moroni, Federal Administrator of Public Revenues of Argentina, affirmed on the imminent launching of this video game: “We continue working with innovative strategies in order that children and teenagers consider the community values, the social importance of taxes and the necessity of an equitable distribution of public revenues”.
And added: “We strongly held the opinion that the best learning experience is the one you enjoy. That is why we want to take advantage of the family bond that new generations have with technology and thus promote educational values connected with social solidarity”.
The official launch will be on July 28th at 8.00 PM, at the Feria Internacional del Libro Infantil (International Children’s Book Fair), Sala A “Sirena” (Room A “Mermaid”), Pabellón C (Pavilion C). A demo test can be already downloaded at http://martina.afip.gov.ar. Such demo is an approximation of the complete video game that will be available during the first week of September.
The final version will guide Martina to resolve 12 missions which landscape will be of diverse geographical regions of our country. It takes 60 to 90 minutes to solve each mission adding up to 12 hours, at least, to finish the whole game.
AFIP will distribute CDs of the full game at schools by means of an agreement with the Internet portal www.educ.ar. It will also be available in any “customer care center” of this body within the country.
Risk Profile, an AFIP’s initiative, has been developed by the enterprises Sabarasa Entretainment and Nucleosys SRL. Agustín Cordes, director of the latter, declared that: “the video game has an excellent balance between an educational and an entertainment content. It has been developed with the same technology used by European and North American companies, so it is at the same level of the best video games worldwide”.
Andrea Vilardebó, responsible for the AFIP’s Tax Education program, stated that: “in order to carry out this project, it has been taken into account trends of the cultural consumptions of children which indicate that, during the last five years, the number of children and the time spent playing with the computer has constantly increased”.
This video game favors the incorporation of civic issues such as the tax field, and strengthens the knowledge children learned in formal educational areas. Regarding this subject, Vilardebó added that from this area “we contribute to build a responsible, but also critic, citizenship”.
