RISING STAR SETS ON ATARI
Japan Gets New PAL As Emerging Publisher Agrees Distribution Deal With Videogame Powerhouse; Space Invaders Revolution Set For June Release
Friday 13 May 2005/... Newly-launched videogames publisher Rising Star Games has today announced it has signed an exclusive PAL distribution with Atari.
The agreement covers Rising Star's first year of titles for all PAL countries excluding The Nordic territory, and kicks off with Space Invaders Revolution on Nintendo DS in June 2005.
Space Invaders Revolution - developed under the strict stewardship of original Space Invaders creator Tomihiro Nishikado - combines the original game and an updated 'Quest' mode, adhering to the spirit of the 1978 coin-op classic, resulting in a handheld title which will appeal to games players young and old.
"Atari's massive distribution network offers Rising Star Games the perfect route to retail throughout the PAL landscape," says Owe Bergsten, chairman, Rising Star Games. "Atari continually demonstrates its scale and expertise with its each and every release, offering comprehensive coverage throughout."
"The Rising Star Games agreement is a real coup for Atari," adds Jeremy Wigmore, UK Managing Director, Atari. "With a host of original titles alongside fresh and modern updates of some of the industry's most classic franchises, Rising Star Games is set to become the label of choice for gaming connoisseurs."
Following the first release, Rising Star Games will introduce Bubble Bobble Revolution, a significantly enhanced re-imagining of the classic coin-op on Nintendo DS. A new 'Evolution' series will be introduced on PSP later in the year, which will enhance classic franchises further for the new Sony handheld. Original PlayStation 2 titles also form part of this agreement.
Note: Nordic territory distribution will be handled by Bergsala.
