Relentless in Top 3 Most Successful developers.

Buzz! developers riding high on shipping 2 million copies.

3rd May 2006. Brighton, UK. Relentless Software has become the third most successful independent developer in the UK according to the newly published Develop 100. This rapid rise to the top has taken place in just over two years and is due to the success of its unique, clever and entertaining Buzz! titles which have now shipped 2 million* units in Europe alone since release in October 2005.

Andrew Eades, Development Director of Relentless Software commented, "We're extremely pleased to have reached such a high ranking. To be ranked in the Top 3 with the long-established studios Eurocom and Traveller's Tales is a huge achievement for us. What's more, we've done this by taking a risk in creating a brand new IP and releasing exclusively on PlayStation® 2. Buzz! has been a big hit for us and for Sony and we're not done yet."

Michael French, editor of Develop magazine added, "We're very pleased that the Develop 100 acknowledged such excellent studio performances from the past year. And it was great to see a studio such as Relentless - a UK-based independent that produced a game from an original concept, no less - rightly enter the ranks of the world's 100 most successful studios."

Buzz!: The Music Quiz was published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe in October 2005 and was the most successful original title in the Christmas 2005 charts. The follow-up title, Buzz!: The Big Quiz was published in mid-March and currently holds the No. 2 spot, with new release Tomb Raider at No.1, in the full price PS2 charts.

David Amor, Creative Director of Relentless enthused, "We're really proud of our success with Buzz - we set out to tackle the social/lifestyle gaming genre and that's exactly what we've done and will continue to do. We're capable of much more than Buzz but we still have some more great ideas on how to expand the IP as well as create new and exciting concepts and prototypes."

The Develop 100 is published by Intent Media, publishers of industry magazines Develop and MCV, and is based on ChartTrack data supplied by Elspa.

Relentless was formed by industry innovators David Amor and Andrew Eades and is recognised as one of the most exciting and creative of the new wave of UK development studios.
