ReKTGlobal acquires Rogue
Esports services firm purchases Las Vegas-based team co-owned by Steve Aoki
Rogue has been brought to heel. Esports services outfit ReKTGlobal today announced that it has acquired the Las Vegas-based team, which made headlines in 2016 when DJ and musician Steve Aoki purchased a stake in the company.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but ReKTGlobal has said it will retain all current Rogue staffers and has plans to expand the Rogue brand in the future. In addition to adding New York City offices, the team's new owner has said it will bring Rogue into new games, pursuing Overwatch League and League of Legends franchises in the future.
Rogue currently runs competitive teams in CS:GO, Rocket League, H1Z1, Rainbow Six, and Vainglory. It had a successful Overwatch team previously, but disbanded it after Blizzard denied its application for a spot in the inaugural Overwatch League season, allowing its players to seek spots on OWL teams.
"ReKTGlobal will take Rogue to the next level," said Rogue co-owner, Steve Aoki. "We share the same passion and vision, and we're going to continue to build Rogue as an esports powerhouse through new sponsors, partners and by most importantly, winning."
