Record attendance for Eurogamer Expo

Sell-out London event sees 20,000 through the doors; plans for 2011 to be announced shortly

This year's Eurogamer Expo, which took place in London across October 1-3, has been hailed a "phenomenal success" as attendance numbers hit a record high.

The event, at the Earls Court Brompton Hall for the first time, saw over 20,000 people get the opportunity to spend hands-on time with a huge selection of new and forthcoming titles, as over 11,000 hours of gameplay were recorded.

First UK showings of games including LittleBigPlanet 2, Gears of War 3, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Fallout: New Vegas, Fable III, Gran Turismo 5 3D, Bulletstorm, Brink and many others prompted gamers to queue from 2am on Friday - nine hours before doors opened.

"This year's Eurogamer Expo has been a phenomenal success for everyone involved," said Rupert Loman, MD at Eurogamer. "Every console, every controller was in use from the moment the doors opened until the show closed, which is a perfect indication of how much fun people were having."

The event also hosted the sold-out Games Invest 2010 event, organised by Game Republic and featuring talks from London Venture Partners' Phil Harrison and 4IP's Melanie Hayes, as well as another successful GamesIndustry.biz Career Fair - while HMV acted as retail partner.

Details on the Eurogamer Expo 2011 will be released shortly.
