rAge 2010
Three days of "incomparable gaming entertainment" promised next month in Johannesburg.
IMMEDIATE ISSUE
7 SEPTEMBER 2010
The Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg will be bursting at the seams with all the latest game releases, including games only due for release later in the year, new product launches by the console gaming powerhouses, unbelievable specials on all the latest games and hardware, as well as awesome giveaways and competitions during the three-days of incomparable gaming entertainment at rAge from 1-3 October 2010.
Year on year, the NAG LAN @ rAge increases its number of seats to meet demand and always manages to sell out faster than the year before. This year - an all time record - saw the 2,080 NAG LAN tickets to this year’s event selling out in less than 36 hours! But don’t despair, whilst you may be too late to get in on the LAN action, if this kind of enthusiasm and loyalty is anything to go by, you can be assured that rAge 2010 will be the best ever – truly, the interactive gaming event of the decade.
As a visitor, witness the awesome 53-hour NAG LAN @ rAge (sponsored by Alienware) which stands a chance of being crowned by the Guinness World Records as the longest LAN (Local Area Network) party this side of the equator; officially putting South African gaming on the world map. A not to be missed attraction for any proud (gaming) South African. Not to mention the Call of Duty 4 LAN Championship brought to you by Incredible Connection and Gaming inc., where you can see some of SA’s top gaming clans battling it out for first prize.
The Verge, our favourite cutting-edge gaming show hosted by the illustrious techno-babe Pippa Tshabalala, will be loud and proud at rAge 2010. Visit their stand to meet Pippa, get pics or autographs (or both!) and you might also get your mug (come on, don’t be shy) featured on the post-rAge episodes on Vuzu’s favourite gaming show, DSTV channel 123. All through September The Verge will keep you on the edge of your seat with up-to-the-minute rAge updates and loads of fantastic prizes.
Visit Incredible Connection, the official Alienware stockists, to experience the stylised beast of portable gaming and so much more: the Alienware M15X gaming notebook with 320GB storage, an Intel Core i7 processor and GeForce GT260M video card – in the words of NAG magazine’s reviewer Derrick Cramer, “Beauty and power, the stuff dreams are made of”.
But that’s not all! Yes, there’s loads more for the whole family to enjoy. Come and check out the latest in motion-sensor gaming with the PlayStation 3 Move and Xbox 360 Kinect; both of which will be launched at rAge, opening their arms to a whole new spectrum of gamer. Exclusive to the PS3 console, the Move is sure to get your heart racing and your blood pumping with a wide range of games that will see you slaying monsters or knocking 6’s with the USB eye camera and a motion controller wand that will give your PS3 console a make-over that delivers entertainment that the whole family can enjoy. Similarly, Xbox will be showcasing Kinect (formerly known as Project Natal) which introduces a new way to play games - where you are the controller. Revolutionising gaming and transforming the face of the typical gamer, the motion-sensing Kinect can be attached to any Xbox 360 console for hours of active fun with new games featuring icons such as Sonic in Sonic Free Riders and Dance Central. We suspect that any “couch-potato” complaints may soon become a distant memory.
The stage will come alive with exhibitor giveaways, presentations, international guests and competitions; from t-shirts and posters to random spot prizes. And there’s something to experience at every stand; such as the Playseat with its universal steering wheel mount and pedal rest. This adjustable racing seat for Play Station, Xbox and PC will be on display and available to demo at the rAge expo!
Mindboggling specials abound just before Christmas; whether you’re buying for yourself, your n00b cousin or trying to spur the gaming fire that lights your son’s (or daughter’s) heart, be sure not to miss out on rAge 2010 – the gaming revolution is here!
