R18+ supporter O'Connor leaves Australian home affairs role
Brendan O'Connor moves on in cabinet reshuffle
Progress on an R18+ classification for Australia could face further delays after Brendan O'Connor, formerly the Australian federal minister for home affairs, and supporter of the move for a R18+ rating for the country, has changed roles.
After a cabinet reshuffle O'Connor was renamed minister for Human Services, with Materiel Jason Clare taking over his role.
Last month O'Connor revealed the final guidelines for the new class-action, and stated that he would introduce it on February of next year. New minister Jason Clare's views on the R18+ rating are as yet unknown.
Earlier this year O'Connor said the lack of R18+ rating was making Australia look foolish.
"We're becoming the laughing stock of the developed world, where we're the only country that doesn't have an R18 classification level for video games."
