PSW hits 100th issue in style
Massive competition as Future's PlayStation title celebrates birthday
08/10/07 - Future - the UK's leading games media company, is celebrating the milestone 100th issue of its independent PlayStation title, PSW - with a brand new look and the chance to win a bumper prize.
One lucky reader will win an instant games collection. Worth close to £4000, the haul of 100 games will be split across PS3, PS2 and PSP consoles. Featuring many of the sure-fire Christmas blockbusters, the bulging package includes Assassin's Creed from Ubisoft, Army of Two from Electronic Arts and Activision's Call of Duty 4.
Following Sony's recently announced entry level PS3 at £299, the new look PSW reflects the growing PS3 market and the changing needs of owners - encompassing the online elements of the next-gen console. The magazine is more focused on the needs and interests of PS3 gamers, the new Network section will support the growing online gaming community with online tips, tutorials and features.
Celebrating the 100th issue in style, the PSW team celebrates the greatest games of the last eight years - across all PlayStation platforms, in a special retrospective, looking over the very best titles since PSW launched in 1999.
Elsewhere in the November issue, PSW scoops the exclusive first looks at two of the biggest games for 2008, Vivendi's Prototype and WET, as well as shining some light on EA's space-horror Dead Space. The magazine also previews Silent Hill 5 and reviews the new first person shooter Jericho.
Ian Dean is Editor of PSW:
"It's a real honour to be editing PSW as it reaches its 100th issue. The magazine has outlived many of its PlayStation focused competitors and remains hungry, striving to reveal many of the biggest new releases first, just like our Vivendi and EA exclusives. Long may PSW continue."
Lee Nutter, Publisher of PSW said:
"The PlayStation market is rapidly changing and we are incredibly excited about the price drop and the new audiences and opportunities this brings PSW and our portfolio of PlayStation titles. The new look PSW touches on the community aspects of the PlayStation Network and the wider entertainment users for the PS3, from games and beyond.
"As someone who was a part of the PSW launch team almost eight years ago, I'm delighted that the magazine has made it to its landmark 100th issue, especially when so many other titles in the sector have fallen by the wayside. Longevity is the best measure of a great magazine and with a fantastic redesign ready for issue 100, PSW can cement its place in PlayStation history."
Issue 100 of PSW goes on sale Thursday, 11 October with a coverprice of £4.99, including a DVD packed with video content, a 224 page tips book and an exclusive Guitar Hero sweatband.
