PSP title tops Japanese chart again as Vita sales drop

The Japanese software chart has seen another week with a PSP title in first, and no Vita games in the top 20 at all.

2nd Super Robot Wars Z sold over 265,000 copies in its opening week to win the top spot, followed by last week's number one, Kingdom Hearts on 3DS. Pro Baseball Spirits 2012 is in both third and fourth place, with the PSP SKU edging out its PS3 stablemate in the sales figures.

Elsewhere, the chart is peppered with older entries and perennial favourites such as Mario 3D Land and two Monster Hunter titles. One significant new entry, however, is that of Kinect Star Wars on 360 at number 12, selling 6,010 units.

In the hardware charts, Star Wars popularity failed move the 360 any higher than seventh, with 3,764 units shifted. 3DS was still the prevailing platform, despite a significant sales drop from 121,921 to 72,115 units.

Sony's Vita continues to struggle, perhaps due to its slim current catalogue, dropping to a four figure sales total for the first time with just 8,931 units hitting customers' hands.
