PS3 leads home console sales in Japan

But Monster Hunter G release helps Wii sales pick up in the region

Sony's PlayStation 3 is still leading sales of home consoles in Japan, following last week's boost by the release of the limited edition Final Fantasy SKU.

According to data from Media Create for the week ended April 26, the PlayStation 3 sold 23,351 units.

The release of Capcom's number one Wii title Monster Hunter G upped sales of Nintendo's home console, with a further 18,439 units sold, while Microsoft's Xbox 360 moved a further 7016 units.

However, the two handhelds on the market continue to perform much better than home machines, with the combined sales of the DS and DSi hitting 43,869, while the PSP sold 41,187 units.
