Insomniac president Ted Price has said that as well as sequels to its popular Sony exclusives Resistance and Ratchet & Clank, the developer is keen to deliver more new titles in the future.
Price said that working on new IP and having longer cycles for its established franchises helps the studio refocus on its work and helps alleviate "consumer fatigue" in the market.
"We'll continue to produce new IP, thereâs no question about that,â stated Price to MTV.
"One thing that has been nice for us is that instead of the one-year cycles that we had on PlayStation one, we now have two-year cycles, which gives us a chance to do really thorough pre-production and gives the team the chance to take a bit of a break — and gives consumers a break, too.
"We were experiencing consumer fatigue with Ratchet on the PlayStation 2," he admitted.
Despite working with longer production cycles, Price feels that its still important to use all available time and stick to clear goals and deadlines throughout the production process.
"You always fill up the amount of time that you have. No question.
"What we do, though, is make it clear that that final deadline is a final deadline and we do everything we can to make the quality high. We donât try to make an unrealistic scope for the design." he said.
A sequel to PlayStation 3 launch title Resistance: Fall of Man is due this year. In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz Price said that around half of all PS3 users owned a copy of the original title.
